X Twitter rank_change climbers via get_top_trends

Pass sort rank_change and a window on get_top_trends to list X trending-topic climbers versus a prior snapshot, then compare 1d, 3d, 7d, 14d, and 30d counts from one Trends MCP account.

Live data as of 2026-08-27

X rank_change on Trends MCP is get_top_trends with type X (Twitter) Trending, sort rank_change, and a window such as 1d. From the August 27, 2026 pull, the board stamped 2026-08-27T18:01:38 UTC. The 1d window used baseline 2026-08-27T02:01:32 UTC, a snapshot from the same calendar day, and returned count 2. Shapiro led that list at rank 27, prev_rank 49, rank_change 22. Amish sat at rank 8, prev_rank 17, rank_change 9. Default sort rank filled 100 topics, then count 0 at offset 100. Rank 1 was Peter Cullen. Wikipedia Trending 1d on the same stamp returned count 42. Free tier access is 100 requests per month.

X 1d returned 2 climbers on a same-day 02:01 baseline

From the Trends MCP scan of August 27, 2026, X sort rank_change stamped 2026-08-27T18:01:38 UTC and filled 2 climber rows on window 1d against baseline 2026-08-27T02:01:32 UTC, so a 1d X pull can diff two scans on the same date rather than yesterday versus today.

Offset 50 on that 1d call returned count 0 with a held-or-fell note. The two climbers sit inside the first page. Default sort rank returned 50 topics at offset 0 and 50 more at offset 50, then count 0 at offset 100. Rank 1 was Peter Cullen. Rank 2 Optimus Prime. Rank 3 Transformers. Rank 4 Boosie. Rank 5 Till All Are One. Rank 7 Tropical Storm Dolly. Rank 11 Frank Welker. Rank 22 UEFA. Rank 30 Ratko Mladic. Rank 44 Yayoi Kusama. Rank 73 Nepal. Rank 74 Hugging Face. Rank 79 Nvidia. Two Korean-script hashtags sat at ranks 54 and 92; skip reprinting those strings. Peter Cullen sat at rank 1 and was absent from the 2-row climber list.

Same-stamp Wikipedia Trending 1d used that 02:01 baseline and returned count 42, led by 2026-27 UEFA Europa League at rank 78, prev_rank 179, rank_change 101. Google Trends 1d returned count 21, led by hurricane dolly at rank 38, prev_rank 156, rank_change 118. Google News Top News 1d returned count 0 with a held-or-fell note. App Store Top Free 1d, stamped 2026-08-27T14:01:41 UTC rather than 18:01, returned count 45, led by Netflix at rank 58, prev_rank 90, rank_change 32. The X iOS app sat at App Store Top Free rank 16, prev_rank 26, rank_change 10 on that earlier stamp. ChatGPT sat at App Store Top Free rank 1 and was absent from X 100.

The X Twitter Trending Topics API page still describes a 25-row scan from August 2, 2026 led by #SummerSlam. This pull filled 100, with Peter Cullen at rank 1.

Exact API calls for climber boards

sort rank_change plus window is a separate get_top_trends request from default sort rank, so a 1d climber pull and a current-rank pull on August 27, 2026 are two requests, and each extra window is another request because window is per call.

MCP clients send the same fields on get_top_trends. The type string is exact: X (Twitter) Trending is correct; X (Twitter) fails. Window values are 1d, 3d, 7d, 14d, and 30d. Default sort is rank. Default window when sort is rank_change is 30d, so omit window only when that 30d lookback is the intent. On this stamp the 30d call returned count 1 rather than an empty list. Offset and limit behavior is on get_top_trends pagination. For the Google Trends sibling, see Google Trends rank_change. For a current-rank join against Google Trends, see X Twitter Trending vs Google Trends.

Official X post-read credits do not emit prev_rank against a stored Trends MCP snapshot. Those products are not substitutes. Check current pricing on any X developer plan before quoting a fee.

3d through 14d turned over while 30d still listed UEFA

A longer rank_change window on X can return a row after every mid-length window reported a complete turnover, because only topics still on the current 100-row board that also sat on the older snapshot can climb, and complete turnover is not the same as held-or-fell.

Every window on this stamp used the 02:01 cluster except the current as_of, which sat at 18:01. 1d compared 18:01 against 02:01 on August 27, about sixteen hours, not a full calendar day. 3d, 7d, and 14d found zero shared topics, so rank_change cannot be computed. 30d found UEFA on both snapshots. Count 0 is not one error. Read the note before retrying a shorter window or switching to sort rank.

Shapiro led 1d at +22 and had no 30d row. Amish only appears as a climber on the 1d call. Rank 1 Peter Cullen never entered those objects. UEFA sat at current rank 22 and was absent from the 1d list. A current leader can sit outside the climber list when it held, fell, or was missing from the baseline snapshot.

Live X ranks and search indexes can disagree

There is no x or twitter source on get_growth. Tweet counts are not in this payload. Follow-ups use google search, youtube, or google news on a related keyword, each billed as its own request, and a high X rank can sit next to a flat or falling search index whose recent_date is still last week.

On the 2026-08-22 google search points, peter cullen sat at 1.0, flat over 7 days and 30 days, after a first call returned data_unavailable. youtube for peter cullen sat at 4.0, flat over 7 days from 4.0 and down 42.86% over 30 days from 7.0. google news for peter cullen sat at 0.0 on both windows, with a low-quality warning that the series is over 90% zeros. That weekly 0.0 sat next to Google News Top News rank 24 on the 18:01 stamp, a Peter Cullen obituary headline. Live rank is not a get_growth guarantee. transformers on google search sat at 17.0, down 5.56% over 7 days from 18.0 and down 22.73% over 30 days from 22.0. optimus prime sat at 33.0, down 5.71% over 7 days from 35.0 and up 3.12% over 30 days from 32.0. amish sat at 47.0, down 4.08% over 7 days and 30 days from 49.0. shapiro sat at 12.0, down 7.69% over 7 days from 13.0 and down 29.41% over 30 days from 17.0. UEFA sat at 10.0, down 41.18% over 7 days from 17.0 and down 52.38% over 30 days from 21.0. Quote both values. A 30d X climb for UEFA is not the same story as a weekly search index falling from 17.0 to 10.0.

Unofficial X trend scrapers still advertise a current hashtag page. Trends MCP rank_change is a snapshot diff with prev_rank, not a tweet-volume field from that HTML. The August 27, 2026 1d list had two rows. Publish those two. Do not pad to 25.

Common questions

Rows become objects with rank, keyword, prev_rank, and rank_change instead of a two-item rank-and-topic array. On August 27, 2026 the 1d window stamped 2026-08-27T18:01:38 UTC against baseline 2026-08-27T02:01:32 UTC and returned count 2. The top climber was Shapiro at rank 27, prev_rank 49, rank_change 22. Default sort rank on the same stamp filled 100 topics, then count 0 at offset 100.
Not in a straight line. X 1d returned 2 climbers. 3d, 7d, and 14d returned count 0 with complete-turnover notes. 30d returned count 1: UEFA at rank 22, prev_rank 64, rank_change 42. Read the count field and the note. A 30d list can hold a name that every mid-length window already dropped.
Yes on daily boards, with different fill rates. Wikipedia Trending 1d on this stamp returned 42 climbers. Google Trends 1d returned 21. Google News Top News 1d returned 0 with a held-or-fell note. App Store Top Free 1d returned 45 on a 14:01 stamp, not the 18:01 X stamp. A 2-row X list is not interchangeable with those boards.
get_top_trends is counted per feed type and per page. One X call with sort rank_change is one request, separate from a default sort rank call. Free covers 100 requests per month. Starter is $19 for 1,000. Extra percent_growth windows inside one get_growth call still count as a single request.
