Pass sort rank_change and a window on get_top_trends to list Steam Most Played climbers versus a prior snapshot, then compare 1d, 3d, 7d, 14d, and 30d counts from one Trends MCP account.
Live data as of 2026-08-29
Steam Most Played rank_change on Trends MCP is get_top_trends with type Steam Most Played, sort rank_change, and a window such as 1d. From the August 29, 2026 pull, the board stamped 2026-08-29T12:02:07 UTC. The 1d window used baseline 2026-08-28T02:01:40 UTC and returned count 9, led by Grand Theft Auto V Legacy at rank 13 (prev_rank 25, rank_change 12). Window 3d returned count 8, with PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS at rank 3 (prev_rank 24, rank_change 21). Default sort rank filled 25 titles at limit 50, then count 0 at offset 25. Counter-Strike 2 held rank 1 and was absent from every climber list. Free tier access is 100 requests per month.
From the Trends MCP scan of August 29, 2026, Steam Most Played sort rank_change stamped 2026-08-29T12:02:07 UTC and filled 9 climber rows on window 1d against baseline 2026-08-28T02:01:40 UTC. Grand Theft Auto V Legacy sat at rank 13, prev_rank 25, rank_change 12. Wallpaper Engine sat at rank 8, prev_rank 18, rank_change 10. Apex Legends sat at rank 6, prev_rank 14, rank_change 8. The live feed appends a trademark symbol to Apex Legends; growth calls in this run used the plain display name Apex Legends and still resolved.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth sat at rank 14, prev_rank 20, rank_change 6. Slay the Spire 2 sat at rank 16, prev_rank 21, rank_change 5. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS sat at rank 3, prev_rank 6, rank_change 3. How to Fish sat at rank 7, prev_rank 9, rank_change 2. TBH: Task Bar Hero sat at rank 11, prev_rank 13, rank_change 2. Warframe sat at rank 22, prev_rank 23, rank_change 1.
Default sort rank on that stamp returned 25 titles at limit 50, then count 0 at offset 25. Rank 1 was Counter-Strike 2. Rank 2 was Dota 2. Rank 3 was PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. Rank 4 was Bongo Cat. Rank 5 was Palworld. Rank 1 never entered the 1d list because it did not climb. Offset 9 on the 1d climber call then returned count 0 with a held-or-fell note. That note is the empty-page message after a 9-row set, not a second page of movers. The Steam Most Played API hub still describes a July 31, 2026 scan with Palworld at rank 3 and TBH: Task Bar Hero at rank 4. This pull closed Palworld at 5 and TBH at 11. Length 25 held. The middle of the board did not.
On this stamp a longer lookback did not add a longer mover list. Window 3d used baseline 2026-08-26T02:01:36 UTC and returned count 8. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS led at rank 3, prev_rank 24, rank_change 21. That is a 21-place climb in three days, against a 3-place climb on the 1d window where prev_rank was already 6. Wallpaper Engine sat at rank 8, prev_rank 17, rank_change 9. Apex Legends sat at rank 6, prev_rank 13, rank_change 7. Rust and Team Fortress 2 appeared here and not on 1d.
Window 7d used baseline 2026-08-22T02:01:34 UTC and returned count 7. Grand Theft Auto V Legacy led again at rank 13, prev_rank 25, rank_change 12, the same delta as 1d. Bongo Cat entered at rank 4, prev_rank 5, rank_change 1. Window 14d used baseline 2026-08-15T02:01:41 UTC and also returned count 7. Wallpaper Engine led at rank 8, prev_rank 22, rank_change 14, the largest Wallpaper Engine climb across the five windows. Window 30d used baseline 2026-07-30T02:01:37 UTC and returned count 11. Apex Legends led at rank 6, prev_rank 16, rank_change 10. Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced appeared here at rank 15, prev_rank 24, rank_change 9, next to Legacy at rank 13, prev_rank 21, rank_change 8. Offset 11 on that 11-row set returned count 0 with a held-or-fell note.

| 7d | 2026-08-22T02:01:34 | 7 | Grand Theft Auto V Legacy, rank 13, prev 25, plus 12 |
| 14d | 2026-08-15T02:01:41 | 7 | Wallpaper Engine, rank 8, prev 22, plus 14 |
| 30d | 2026-07-30T02:01:37 | 11 | Apex Legends, rank 6, prev 16, plus 10 |
Read the count field. A 7d call can be shorter than a 1d call. YouTube Trending on the same 12:02:07 stamp, same 1d baseline 2026-08-28T02:01:40 UTC, returned count 0 with a held-or-fell note. Two live boards, one timestamp, one empty climber list and one 9-row list. The YouTube Trending rank_change page is the sibling for that feed. The get_top_trends pagination page already recorded that Steam Most Played stops at 25 on current rank. rank_change on that 25-row board can still fill 9, 8, 7, or 11 rows depending on the window.
source steam on get_growth is a monthly concurrent-player series keyed by display name, not a live-board rank series. Keyword Grand Theft Auto V Legacy returned HTTP 404 no_data. Keyword Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced returned 17 points with recent_date 2026-07-01, recent_value 92.1, recent_volume 160,737. Keyword Grand Theft Auto V, with neither suffix, returned the same 17 points, the same 92.1, and the same 160,737. First Steam store search hit wins. The live board still treats Legacy (rank 13) and Enhanced (rank 15) as two rows. rank_change can move them on different windows. The growth object cannot tell them apart.
Slay the Spire 2 sat at live rank 16 with a 1d climb of 5 and still returned no_data. How to Fish sat at live rank 7 with a 1d climb of 2 and still returned no_data. TBH: Task Bar Hero sat at live rank 11 with a 1d climb of 2 and still returned no_data, matching the July 31 hub. Those titles belong on the climber list. They cannot support a percent-growth claim yet.
Wallpaper Engine climbed on every window. The steam series on 2026-07-01 printed recent_value 90.7 and recent_volume 127,765 against 119 points. The 30D window compared 90.7 / 127,765 versus 94.6 / 135,883: index -4.12%, volume -5.97%. The 3M window compared 90.7 versus 86.6 (+4.73%) while volume fell from 133,017 to 127,765 (-3.95%). google search for Wallpaper Engine used a weekly series of 260 points with recent_date 2026-08-22: value 61.0 versus 59.0 on 7D (+3.39%), 57.0 on 30D (+7.02%), and 60.0 on 3M (+1.67%). Live rank climbed. The July steam point was already down. Google Search for the same string was slightly up.
The board call needs no keyword. sort rank_change switches the payload from a two-item rank-and-title array to objects with rank, keyword, prev_rank, and rank_change. window is required to pick the baseline. Default window is 30d if omitted.

On this pull the second call still returned count 25. Raising limit to 50 did not invent ranks 26 through 50. get_top_trends is billed per feed type and per page. One rank_change call is one request, separate from a default sort rank call. Free covers 100 requests per month. Starter is $19 for 1,000. Extra percent_growth windows inside one get_growth call still count as a single request.
MCP clients send the same type string Steam Most Played. REST uses mode get_top_trends. The string is case-sensitive. Close labels such as Steam Most Played Games fail.
Every successful steam follow-up in this run printed recent_date 2026-07-01. Preset 7D returned collapsed_range for Apex Legends, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Wallpaper Engine, and Counter-Strike 2: recent and baseline resolved to the same monthly point. Prefer 30D, 3M, and 12M until a title has daily history.
Counter-Strike 2 held live rank 1 and printed recent_value 76.3 with recent_volume 1,420,896 against 169 points. The 30D window compared 76.3 / 1,420,896 versus 82.0 / 1,573,727: index -6.95%, volume -9.71%. Rank stability at the top can sit next to a down month. Dota 2 sat at live rank 2 and was a 30d climber of 1 (prev_rank 3). Its 30D index rose from 63.0 to 75.1 (+19.21%) while volume slipped from 862,639 to 860,019 (-0.30%). Quote both.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS printed recent_value 19.8 and recent_volume 792,142 against 113 points. The 30D index rose from 19.1 to 19.8 (+3.66%) while volume fell from 820,499 to 792,142 (-3.46%). The 3d live climb was 24 to 3. google search for PUBG used 260 weekly points with recent_date 2026-08-22: value 37.0 versus 40.0 on 7D (-7.50%), 33.0 on 30D (+12.12%), and 31.0 on 3M (+19.35%). A three-day Steam rank jump is not a seven-day Google Search peak.
Apex Legends printed recent_value 17.1 and recent_volume 214,120 against 69 points. The 30D window compared 17.1 / 214,120 versus 20.7 / 254,117: index -17.39%, volume -15.74%. google search for Apex Legends used 261 weekly points, recent_date 2026-08-22: value 12.0 versus 14.0 on 7D (-14.29%), 13.0 on 30D (-7.69%), and 18.0 on 3M (-33.33%). Live rank still climbed from 14 to 6 on the 1d window. Search heat and concurrent-player history were both down.
Palworld sat at live rank 5 and was absent from the 1d climber list. The steam series on 2026-07-01 printed recent_value 34.4 and recent_volume 956,613 against 31 points, versus 1.0 / 51,116 on 2026-06-01: index +3340.0%, volume +1771.46%. The July monthly point is a different object from an August 29 live rank of 5. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth printed recent_value 100.0 versus 26.8 on 30D (+273.13%) while volume only moved from 136,682 to 155,966 (+14.11%) across 141 points. Index percent is not a player-count percent. Bongo Cat printed 100.0 versus 95.8 on 30D (+4.38%) with volume 187,676 versus 180,178 (+4.16%) across 17 points, and a 1-place 7d climb from rank 5 to 4.
Live Steam rank is a title on a 25-row concurrent-player board. rank_change is overlap versus a named baseline. get_growth with source steam is a monthly series that can miss new titles, collapse two GTA V SKUs, and trail the live stamp by a month. The Steam Most Played versus Google Trends comparison stays useful when a climber has a search series and the steam object does not.
