Live data as of 2026-08-26

From the August 26, 2026 pull, both boards stamped 2026-08-26T12:01:40 UTC. Open Library Trending Books returned 50 rows at offsets 0, 50, 100, and 150, filling ranks 1 through 200, then count 0 at offset 200. Zero exact titles overlapped in 200 versus 200. Dolly by Dolly Parton sat at Open Library rank 101. Free tier access is 100 requests per month.
From the Trends MCP scan of August 26, 2026, Open Library Trending Books and Google Trends both stamped 2026-08-26T12:01:40 UTC and each filled 200 rows, so a default limit 25 join misses every Google query after 25 and every book that only matches a later page.

Atomic Habits also sat at Open Library rank 21 as a title-only duplicate of rank 2. Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney sat at ranks 29 and 59. wikipedia Atomic Habits 30D used monthly points through 2026-07-01: 64.4 / 95 page views versus 57.8 / 86 on 2026-06-01 (+11.42%). wikipedia Dolly Parton 30D sat at 17.8 / 674 versus 14.3 / 556 (+24.48%); the 7D window returned collapsed_range. wikipedia Project Hail Mary returned no_data. For the books board alone, see the Open Library Trending Books API.
Two get_top_trends calls cover the snapshot: type Open Library Trending Books for catalog titles and type Google Trends for Google's live search board, each counting as one request against the monthly quota on the August 26, 2026 pull, with both feeds needing limit 50 plus offset 50, 100, and 150 because default 25 hides ranks 26 through 200.

Join on exact titles first, then author names and character tokens. "Dolly by Dolly Parton" at Open Library rank 101 and "dolly parton" at Google Trends rank 1 are a person join, not an exact title match. Offset details for feeds that page past 25 live on get_top_trends offset and limit.
A same-stamp join can put a person at Google Trends rank 1 and keep that person's catalog titles off the first 100 Open Library rows, so a news spike and a book board pulled together still need paging past default limit 25.
dolly parton led Google Trends. The same string led Wikipedia Trending at rank 1 on the same 2026-08-26T12:01:40 UTC stamp, with related Wikipedia rows Stella Parton at 8, Randy Parton at 9, and I Will Always Love You at 21. Open Library had no "Dolly Parton" title in ranks 1 through 100. Rank 101 was Dolly by Dolly Parton. Rank 196 was I am a rainbow by Dolly Parton. google search sat at 1.0 on 2026-08-22, flat over 7 days from 1.0. The 30D window used baseline_value 0.0, so the printed 999999.0 percent is a divide-by-zero artifact; quote 1.0 versus 0.0. youtube sat at 2.0, flat over 7 days and 30 days from 2.0.
wikipedia Dolly Parton 30D sat at 17.8 with 674 page views on 2026-07-01, up 24.48% from 14.3 / 556 on 2026-06-01. The 7D preset returned collapsed_range because recent and baseline resolved to the same monthly point. Mixing those July wikipedia points with the August 26 live stamp into one "current audience" claim is wrong. For the Wikipedia cut of the same Google board, see Wikipedia Trending vs Google Trends.
A catalog rank 1 title can sit next to a Google Trends rank 1 query that names a different person, and weekly search for the book itself can stay in the 30s while the live Google board never lists that title in 200 rows.
The 48 Laws of Power led Open Library. google search for the 48 laws of power sat at 30.0 on 2026-08-22, down 11.76% over 7 days from 34.0 and down 26.83% over 30 days from 41.0. Atomic Habits sat at Open Library rank 2, with a second title-only copy at rank 21. google search sat at 46.0, down 6.12% over 7 days from 49.0. youtube sat at 72.0, up 12.5% over 7 days from 64.0. Neither title string appears in Google Trends 200.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone sat at Open Library rank 3. harry potter google search sat at 29.0, flat over 7 days from 29.0 and up 7.41% over 30 days from 27.0, with estimated volume 8,760,000 derived from the index. The Hunger Games sat at Open Library rank 13, with Mockingjay at 97 and the Swedish title Fatta Eld at 38. hunger games google search sat at 10.0, down 9.09% over 7 days from 11.0, estimated volume 1,590,000. Dune sat at Open Library rank 22 with google search 9.0, up 12.5% over 7 days from 8.0. None of those book titles appear as Google Trends queries in 200 rows.
Token joins show up after rank 25, so a limit 25 pull of either board misses gilderoy lockhart at Google Trends 84, Dolly at Open Library 101, and harlan coben at Google Trends 162, even when related catalog rows sit higher.
gilderoy lockhart sat at Google Trends rank 84. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the book that character belongs to, sat at Open Library rank 37. google search for gilderoy lockhart sat at 4.0 on 2026-08-22, down 69.23% over 7 days from 13.0 and up 33.33% over 30 days from 3.0. That is a character-to-title join, not an exact string match.
harlan coben sat at Google Trends rank 162 with google search 24.0, down 4.0% over 7 days from 25.0 and down 47.83% over 30 days from 46.0. No Harlan Coben title appeared in Open Library 200. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir sat at Open Library rank 34 and at IMDb MOVIEmeter rank 11 as Project Hail Mary (2026) on the same stamp, with google search 10.0, down 9.09% over 7 days from 11.0, and youtube 13.0, down 13.33% over 7 days from 15.0. The Google Trends 200 had no "project hail mary" row. wikipedia returned no_data for that exact title. For the film-meter cut, see IMDb MOVIEmeter vs Google Trends.
Exact title equals under-count related rows, weekly google search can lag a same-day board spike, and Google Trends ranks are live search terms, so a catalog chart and a search chart pulled at the same stamp can share zero titles.
Atomic Habits printed twice on Open Library (rank 2 with author, rank 21 as title only). Diary of a Wimpy Kid printed twice (ranks 29 and 59). A naive unique-title count of 200 rows overstates distinct works. google search and youtube use 261 weekly points with recent_date 2026-08-22, four days behind the 2026-08-26T12:01:40 UTC live stamp. wikipedia 7D often returns collapsed_range on monthly points through 2026-07-01.
Default limit 25 would have hidden Dolly at 101, I am a rainbow at 196, gilderoy lockhart at 84, and harlan coben at 162. Extra percent_growth windows inside one get_growth call still count as a single request. The free tier is 100 requests per month. Starter is $19 for 1,000 requests.
