The Google Trends by Category API on Trends MCP returns a live ranked board of search queries for one official category from a get_top_trends call with type Google Trends by Category. From the August 26, 2026 scan (as_of 2026-08-26T08:01:36 UTC), Entertainment ranks 1 through 25 all appeared in overall Google Trends 200, while Sports ranks 1 through 25 appeared in none of those 200 rows. Technology closed at 44 after a 19-row second page. Sports rank 1 was natasha cloud, with google search 4.0 on 2026-08-22. Free tier access starts at 100 requests per month.

What Google Trends by Category data shows right now

From the Trends MCP scan of August 26, 2026, Google Trends by Category and overall Google Trends both stamped 2026-08-26T08:01:36 UTC, so a default limit 25 call on one category misses later Sports and Entertainment ranks and never shows whether those titles sit on the overall 200-row board.

Entertainment and Politics copy the overall board

Entertainment top 25 and Politics top 25 can be complete subsets of overall Google Trends 200. Sports top 25 shares zero titles with overall 200

A Sports category top 25 can miss the overall Google Trends board entirely: natasha cloud, U.S. Open, klay thompson, ashton jeanty, bmw championship, premier league, and the rest of Sports ranks 1 through 25 were absent from overall ranks 1 through 200 on August 26, 2026.

Category boards are not the same length

Google Trends by Category length depends on the category.
