Mention pricing for new accounts is no longer a self-serve ladder. The only SKU on sale is the Company Plan, which Mention's help center lists at $599 per month on an annual contract, verified 27 August 2026. That floor includes 5 alerts, 50,000 mentions per month, and unlimited users. Historical data going back up to 2 years and the REST API are paid add-ons, not part of the $599. Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus stopped selling to new customers in July 2025. Older comparison pages that still print $41 or $83 are leftover. If the job is live multi-source trend boards in Cursor or Claude rather than a mention inbox, Trends MCP publishes Free at $0 for 100 requests through Business at $199 for 25,000 requests.

What does Mention charge new buyers now?

New Mention accounts buy one product: the Company Plan. Mention's "Plans Explained" help article, fetched 27 August 2026, prints the list price as $599 per month on an annual contract. Extra alerts and extra mention quota can be purchased on top. There is no public self-serve checkout for Solo, Pro, or Pro Plus.

The marketing page at mention.com/en/pricing (accessed the same day) matches that SKU list. The comparison table shows a single column labeled Company Plan. The call to action is "Request a demo," which routes to https://social.agorapulse.com/mention-demo. Dollar amounts in the page's price widgets were empty in the HTML. A yearly-toggle string still printed "Save 360$." That $360 figure is not treated here as the Company Plan list price, because the cost spans did not resolve. The $599 floor comes from the help center, not from those empty widgets.

Annual billing is the contract shape, not a discount stacked on a public monthly card. Mention does not publish a self-serve monthly Company Plan rate on that page. Anyone still shopping from a 2024 roundup that listed $41 Solo should ignore those numbers for a new contract.

Why do search results still list $41 Solo plans?

Google still surfaces Mention's own comparison posts that quote Solo at $41 per month, Pro at $83, and Pro Plus at $149. Those posts were live on 27 August 2026, including Mention's Meltwater and Sprout Social roundups. They describe a ladder Mention no longer sells.

The same help center that lists $599 also states, as of July 2025, that Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus are no longer sold to new customers. Existing subscribers keep access and cannot switch between those self-serve SKUs. A separate article, "Legacy Subscription Update (Dec 2025)," says monthly self-service prices were adjusted on 5 December 2025 after a notice period that began 5 November 2025. That article does not print the new legacy dollar amounts. This post does not invent them.

Company Lite is also legacy. Mention says entitlements depend on the contract, and new buyers cannot pick it.

The practical check is simple. If a third-party "Mention pricing" page still leads with $41, it is describing a SKU that is closed to new signup. Use Mention's plans article (accessed 27 August 2026) and the live pricing table, not the leftover blog math.

What sits inside the $599 Company Plan?

Mention's help center, accessed 27 August 2026, lists these Company Plan defaults. Historical data and the API are called out as upgrades, not as items in the $599 floor.

The public pricing page adds monitoring claims that the help article does not repeat in the same words. Real-time tracking is listed across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, "and more." Review monitoring is listed across 75+ sites, with Google, Facebook, Trustpilot, Amazon, and Glassdoor named. Sentiment, competitor benchmarking, share of voice, and influence scoring sit in the analytics block. Slack and Zapier are named as integrations. White-label reporting is listed. Those are product claims from the pricing page on 27 August 2026, not independent tests.

Boolean search is capped on Advanced Alerts at 2,000 characters. Standard Alerts use a simpler query builder. Mention's FAQ on the same pricing page draws the alert vs mention split: an alert is the keyword set; a mention is one matching result.

Publish and Respond are leaving the product. The pricing FAQ says those features are being deprecated, with Agorapulse named as the publishing and reply tool. The plans article is more specific on dates: as of 16 June 2025, Publish and Respond are not provided for new or inactive users; Pro Plus copy names 30 January 2026 as a removal date for remaining users. A new Company Plan buyer should not budget for an inbox-and-calendar suite inside Mention.

Which extras sit outside that floor?

Two extras are explicit on both the help article and the pricing table.

Historical data. Company Plan monitoring is forward-looking unless the add-on is purchased. Mention describes the add-on as gathering mentions from up to 2 years in the past. The pricing table states it is not included and is sold separately. Mention does not print a public dollar amount for that add-on on the pages fetched 27 August 2026.

API access. The REST API at dev.mention.com (accessed 27 August 2026) documents clients for alerts, mentions, accounts, shares, tags, authors, tasks, and statistics, plus metadata guides for Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The public reference lists a rate-limits appendix, but that appendix required a Mention login on this run, so no quota number is quoted here. The pricing table and the help article both treat API access as a paid add-on, not as part of $599.

Quota overages follow the same pattern. The help article says additional alerts and additional mention quota can be purchased. It does not publish the per-alert or per-1,000-mentions rate. Treat $599 as a floor, then ask sales for historical lookback, API, and extra quota before comparing annual cost to another vendor.

NGO discounts exist, per the pricing FAQ, but only through a contact path. There is no public nonprofit SKU.

Inactive accounts after a trial or cancellation become view-only. Mention stops fetching new mentions. Alerts cannot be created or edited. Exports stop. That is the off-ramp, not a free forever plan.

When does a trend API beat a mention inbox?

Mention is priced for a monitored inbox: 50,000 matches a month, Boolean alerts, review sites, sentiment on those matches, spike mail, and a team workspace. Trends MCP is priced for ranked boards and keyword series that an agent can call. Those are different jobs. Mention wins the inbox. Trends MCP wins live multi-source trend data plus MCP and REST.

Trends MCP pricing (markdown mirror dated 27 August 2026) is request-based:

PlanMonthly requestsPrice
Free100$0
Starter1,000$19
Pro5,000$49
Business25,000$199

Annual billing saves 20%. Keyword alerts: Pro 50, Business 250. The HTML pricing page the same day also markets 35+ data sources, a 7-day paid trial with the card taken at checkout and charged on day 8, Free capped at the top 10 trends plus 12 months of history, and paid plans as all trends plus full history. The docs table is narrower than that "35+" line: 15 keyword sources for get_growth / get_time_series (the published table does not list python; the MCP get_growth schema does) and 23 live get_top_trends feeds. Cite both. Do not flatten them.

get_top_trends defaults to limit 25, maximum 200, offset 0. Each feed type plus each page is one request. Cursor talks to the Bearer host, not the Claude OAuth host:

"trends-mcp": {
  "url": "https://api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp",
  "transport": "http",
  "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" }
}

That JSON belongs in ~/.cursor/mcp.json on Mac and Linux, or %USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.json on Windows. Full client notes sit on the Cursor MCP setup page. Mention's API, by contrast, is an add-on on a $599 annual floor and is built around alert and mention objects, not a get_top_trends board.

Buy Mention when the output must be individual posts, reviews, and assignments. Buy a trend API when the output must be "what is climbing on Google, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, or X this week" inside an agent. Social listening tools and brand monitoring cover that split in more depth. A wider vendor set is in Mention alternatives.

FAQ

Does Mention still sell Solo or Pro to new customers?

No. Mention's help center states that as of July 2025, Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus are not sold to new customers. Existing subscribers keep those plans and cannot change to another self-serve SKU. New buyers are on the Company Plan, listed at $599 per month on an annual contract as of 27 August 2026.

Is the Mention API included in the $599 Company Plan?

No. Both the pricing table and the plans article list API access as a paid add-on. The public docs at dev.mention.com describe a REST surface for alerts and mentions. Rate-limit numbers were behind a login on this run, so they are not quoted.

Did Mention remove publishing and replies?

Yes, for new and inactive users as of 16 June 2025, with remaining Publish and Respond removal called out for 30 January 2026 on Pro Plus. The pricing FAQ names Agorapulse as the replacement for publishing and responding. A Company Plan quote should be treated as listening and reporting, not as a social calendar.

What if the need is trend data rather than a mention feed?

Trends MCP Free is $0 for 100 requests per month, with Starter at $19, Pro at $49, and Business at $199. That path is MCP plus REST for ranked feeds and keyword growth. It does not replace Mention's 50,000-mention inbox, 75+ review sites, or Boolean alert builder.
